Who is more excited about the wipe rather than whine about it?

  • i never said i "hate" PVE.. i said CC is boring after you got all the floors cleared! I love to do the quests.. in original i had 16 chars all
above +45 8 of them where 70. Also i like to do some dungeons..
Just because it is DB..? Well if it wasn't DB i probably wouldn't play it because there is better stuff out there..

...so, what exactly is the reason you play DBO if you hate the PVP and PVE elements? :O Just because its "Dragon Ball"? Or some other reason

  • I love to do the quests.. in original i had 16 chars al above +45 8 of thhem where 70.

I think you may have a serious problem. Quests in DBO are some of the worst quests I have ever seen in any videogame I have ever played. The amazing music and visually pleasant graphics make the process more tolerable, but the quests themselves... ugh, I get shivers down my spine just at the thought e.e

  • Once the game is ready for release, all the data will be erased.
Same here. This may seem overdue but my friends and I quit playing since, what, 6 months ago? We got so excited for the data wipe that we just stopped playing since everything was going to get wiped, and now I haven't touched DBO since because I got bored of waiting. Every now and then I check the forums to see if the game finally got wiped

    When is that? 0.0

  • I think quests are lovely to be honest, just the period of the horrid levels (45-54 mainly) have quests that are "boring"

Here is where quests should do: They should be a satisfactory feeling of achievement!

When you do a quest and turn it in just to see that it gave you 0.5% of your level, you're typically just screaming from the inside of how terrible doing the quest was! There was no satisfaction in the end!

Level 55+ quests are AMAZING. I LOVE TO DO those because THEY ARE SO satisfying to finish! They give you stones, they give you large amounts of exp that you'd rather do them instead of do UDs and such!

Level 1-30 Quests are actually a lot of fun! (Other than the Flight quest T^T)

They just give you what you need. If I was a new player (or just starting with mt first Char in OB), I'd be obliged to do them! But I still wouldn't do the level quests around levels 45-54, they are not satisfying! Maybe when I get bored of grinding, I will get them done, but in the end, I just do them.... because!

It's hard for someone like you, MarshmellowFluff, to see the fun in questing because you've been playing the game long enough and realize that they are a PAIN in the ass in the end of it all! But if all data was wiped and you had to start with a new character from 0, knowing there is no level 70 in the bag to help you smash your way through UD1, UD2, UD3, or get the RPHQs done for you in a matter of minutes, you'd find questing a thing that is a MUST, and it is, by quite a lot, less boring than just hunting the shit out of one place!

People are different, and because of that we find different things enjoyable!
I truly enjoyed my PVP experience in TW, not so much in here because of FOC, but still, I'd enjoy it if I went to try it out again!
I enjoy hanging out at plat because I don't do it A LOT! IT gets very boring once you get used to it, but if you keep it cool and regulate your usage of the plat, it's always the MOST fun you can have in your day!

Anyways, to everyone, enjoy your DBOG experience, have fun (doing whatever you'd like) and best regards :)

  • II'm looking forward to the wipe as well. But more than anything, I would like to play with some other players. I'm often playing solo and that's when it can get boring sometime. It still saddens me that this game got scrapped, the lore and story alone was incredible!

I enjoy the questing too, I just wish they had you fighting more humanoid types characters like more frieza soldier types instead of squirrels, boars, and wolves.

  • I guess in the end it doesn't even matter if you like the idea of the wipe or not :D It was stated ages before the server was even opened for us that all progress would be reset and there's even in game notifications telling you this as well as on the website :D

I'm at the point now where i have quite a few classes at level 70 if not at least 60 or higher. Each time i start a new one it's still fun for me. I must admit it's quite easy as i usually get one of my highers to kill bosses or something if i'm feeling lazy for fast leveling but i enjoy doing it solo.

I recently started a dark warrior and am loving it. I'm going to enjoy the wipe because not only will i get to make my classes again but there's also the chance that by playing the same ones or new ones again that i will learn something i did not before. Plus it's always nice for everyone to be on equal playing grounds. Obviously not everyone's going to agree but it's kind of tough shit at this topic because we all agreed to it and the decision isn't going to change :P

I welcome it and look forward to going again.

  • I am new, and I wish I could play it before the wipe. I keep getting an issue where it says something like "Failed to connect to verification database" or something like that. It is annoying, and I may not get to play this, but it looks promising.

  • Something I'll be satisfied with the wipe is being able to level my craft legit. My craft level got bugged to where I could make lvl 70 gear when I had a craft level of 24, which I felt was cheating. I disliked it and even ask Daneos to reset my craft level (he didn't). At least with the wipe I can start from scratch and work my way up legit.

  • if this wipe were to happen i would hope it would at least happen by the end of summer and that Daneos comes up with an Original Way to make money for supporting the game besides the OG cash shop and at least gets publishing rights at the most with all this CASHing flow going to him .

  • Yes people will have to start over again with the wipe, BUT it will be less buggs and the game will be more fun! Imagine to start at 0 with all new players. It will be more competetive and i think the community will grow from this!

Sounds like alot (not all thought XD) of people are exited :)

  • I Like the way you articulate your points here, but I completely disagree.

#1, just an fyi, I only quest to get to lvl 70. The only exception is during lvl 42-48 I did nothing but grind lvl 46 ghosts in yahoi east as a method to get zenni. Must've killed over 100,000 mobs here... managed to earn a decent 15 kk just by selling drops to merch. I was a wonder majin instead of master class as I wanted to stay a cute kid char instead of becoming adult (kid clock was not implemented yet), so this made the process all the more vexing. The reason I wanted to get zenni at this point in time was in order to afford a dogi, as I think that gear is too damn ugly in this game xD (dogis were mad cheap 6 months ago, let me tell you)

#2, it's not really the reward that makes me think quests are shitty. Sure, the shitty rewards make matters worse, but I take issue with something far more significant than the mere satisfaction of gaining quest rewards or lack thereof. My problem with questing, or lvling in general in MMOs is that it is monotonous, and just not very fun. The quests in MMOs are always "go kill this, go gather that, go escort this npc from point A to B", it gets old fast. There is nothing compelling about the gameplay components of these quests. Sure, it can be relaxing for some people. Turn on a podcast in the background, or listen to some of your favorite tunes while just unwinding spamming "1", "2", "3" keyboard keys over and over again. After 100s of hours of doing this, however, it begins to wear on your nerves >.>

Video games are meant to be enjoyable. Some games challenge players and require split second reaction times. Some games offer compelling narrative focus which hooks players and gets them to keep playing just to see how things progress. Some games immerse the player in beautiful worlds brimming with myriad possibilities of things to do. DBO offers an extremely appealing visual/ audio experience with bright colorful cel-shaded graphics and some absolutely beautiful musical compositions. It offers interesting stat/ gear based progression which has players always looking to see how they can perfect their build/ gear set to maximize their effectiveness on the battlefield. And, perhaps most importantly (for many players at least), it offers an opportunity to scratch an itch people have had since they were kids to create their own Dragon Ball characters and fight one another in a quest to become the strongest they can possibly be.

^DBO delivers quite a lot based on what I laid out above, but the problem is, the process of improving yourself within the game (ergo the last two points), tends to be a torturous endeavor. I see so many low level players all excited about getting SSJ for example. When they ask me how they get it, and how long it will take them, they usually groan in despair out of sheer frustration. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that things should just be given to the player without any work or expended effort on their part, what I am saying is that the process of achieving your goals within the game SHOULD be enjoyable. Questing, lvling up, and (some even say) DB hunting is boring or tedious. Personally, I enjoy DB hunting as it is a "high octane" experience wherein you need to seek out rare mobs across the beautiful maps DBO offers and compete with other players to get to your precious DB mobs before they do. There is a one-two punch of competitiveness and allowance of the game immersing you within the beautiful scenery as you fly across the worlds that makes DB hunting a pleasurable experience for me. Questing, farming and lving up are just plain unenjoyable :O
