DBOG Linux Setup How-to (UPDATED FOR 2025)

  • Hello, this is an updated guide on how to make DBOG playable on linux, first things first; There are currently two main methods to get it working, both are focused on different launchers.

The first method is for the old launcher, which we’re gonna list here as well, it tends to work better on linux. And the second one is for the new launcher that comes pre-built with the game.

    Steam Method (Old "Revival" Launcher)

NOTE: You need to have Steam already installed, and have the DBOGInstaller.7z already extracted.

1.- Download the DBOG-S.zip (Link at the end) and the game ofc.

2.- Extract the files to the same folder as DBOGLauncher.exe.

    4.- Open Steam.

5.- Click on the bottom-left labeled "Add a Game".

    6.- Click "Add a non-Steam game".

7.- Click "Browse" and set it to where you extracted the DBOGLauncher.exe.

8.- Right-click on the newly-added DBOGLauncher.exe in your Steam library, and click properties.

    9.- Click on Compatibility.

10.- Click the box next to "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool".

11.- Click the drop-down below, and set it to Proton 5.13-6.

    12.- Open DBOGLauncher.exe through Steam.

13.- Wait a bit for Proton 5.13-6 to download.

    And you're done!

    Lutris Method (New DBOGR launcher)

1.- Install lutris and wine with your package manager, like apt, pacman, dnf, etc.

2.- Download the game from the official page.

3.- Paste the “ExportDirectoryDataToXml.dll” file that’s attached on the thread into the game folder, remember to extract it first.

2.- Create a new game in lutris clicking in the + icon of the top bar, and select “Add locally installed game”.

3.- Adjust the name to “Dragon Ball Online” or to your liking.

4.- Go to “Game options” and copy the DBOGLauncher.exe file and paste it to the “Executable” lutris tab.

5.- Create a new folder and paste the directory in “Wine prefix”, that’s gonna be the folder that DBOG is gonna use to store all the windows files and settings.

6.- Go to “Runner options” and in “Wine version” you need to select a Proton version that’s 9.0 or above (Preferably UMU-Proton)

7.- Disable everything in “Graphics” except by “Enable DXVK” and set it to “v1.7.2L-5ca255d” (Note: If you’re using a gpu that doesn’t support vulkan you need to disable “Enable DXVK” and enable “Enable D3D Extras”.

8.- Disable Esync, Fsync, FidelityFX, and the anti cheat options.

9.- Click the game and click on the button that appears at the right side of “Play” and select “Wine Configuration”, go to the Libraries tab and add the following “exportdirectorydatatoxml” without “”, then apply.

9.- Start the game (Note: The launcher is gonna appear black but it has all the functions working, you need to click on the start button when it finishes patching, it usually takes a few minutes, funny thing is that if you resize the launcher you’ll be able to see what’s going on lol.)

10.- Close the game and set the wine version to System. (Note: This is to fix the missing head bug)

11.- Everything is ready, now you can play.
