This happened when I downloaded the game from https://dboglobal.to/download, extracted and started DBOGLauncher, waited for the patch to finish download and tried to press start. Apparently this user fixed it:

Yes, as I couldn't start the game without downloading the patch first when doing a fresh download of the launcher.
I think, it happened to lots of people. I could not play since the updated either.
I download patch. tried installed again and download new from the website.
Still not work. Still cannot play. Don't know what is the problem.
