It gets annoying after awhile having to resummon a pet when you have to relog/log or change channels is it possible to have them stay equipped until you dismiss them

No it's not possible. logging out or changing channel 'closes' the character so they aren't active on the server until yo log back in. only the server saved info such as gear, inventory, location and buffs is held.
