At this point I doubt it.
To be honest with you, I think Future Trunks is doing what so many people expected from Gohan way better.

This. I would prefer a bigger focus on Goten and Trunks, we saw in the Majin Buu saga that those kids are freaking incredible, especially when they fuse. And if we consider kid Trunks has the same potential as his future self, just imagine 2 people with that potential fusing together. They could surpass almost anyone while still being kids if they train enough, and growing up would increase their overall potential even more.
