[English] Playing DBO on linux through steam

I haven't seen this pop up a lot, and didn't really get a definitive answer on how to
run the game on linux, so I tried some stuff out and found a working method.
I'm running the game on Ubuntu22.04, through steam.
- Download the DBOInstaller from one of the mirrors and extract it.
- Open Steam, and add the launcher executable as a non-steam game.
- Open the Properties for the launcher you just added, and go to the compatibility tab.
- If it's available, select proton 5.13-6, otherwise install it first.

This proton version is the first one I found that works, there may be others.
I've tested more recent versions but kept running into a no-head glitch.

Is it just the launcher you need, to start the game? I can give you a build of the old one that won't patch, but should start the game for you.

Yes, game client can be executed but cant login, i think cause game is unpatched? But new launcher wont open in linux

I copied updated game with new launcher from windows pc to linux and game wont connect. maybe its because you dont get warning window to install that ssl certificate? thats why game wont connect and launcher wont open(it cant ask for ssl install in linux i guess)

This is a build of the old winforms launcher that won't actually patch your game, but you can still play. Try using that on linux!

Ok that can work to play! But have to update game from windows pc and move on usb...

I wonder how often should I update the game ? What time between each patch is commonly released?

We usually patch once a month, the notifications are almost always in our discord server.
