What is this and what does it do?

  • Hi, i've been trying to get into this game for a while and finally i decided to install it but after i tried opening the launcher this thing appeared.

You are about to install a certificate from a certification authority (CA) that claims to represent:
    patch
    .dboglobal.to
Windows cannot validate that the certificate actually comes from
"patch.dboglobal.to". Please contact "patch.dboglobal.to to confirm its origin.
Warning: If you install this root certificate, Windows will automatically trust any certificate issued by this CA. Installing a certificate with an unconfirmed fingerprint poses a security risk. By clicking "Yes", you assume this risk. Do you want to install this certificate?.
    (sorry for the rough translation)

I would like to know what this certificate thing does, i know i may sound a little paranoid but i prefer asking before clicking on accept on things xD

  • Hey koisita,

That's a self signed certificate to encrypt the launcher's traffic. It's so we can use something called http/2 protocol to send you the patch files you need. We didn't want the http/2 protocol for the encryption, it's just a quirk of how the launcher is written. Http/2 gives us some configuration options that makes the download speeds a lot faster. I THINK (not sure) that the way I set it up, you can choose not to accept the certificate if you're really worried about it, but it'll slow your traffic significantly. There's more info here:
