I'm about to reach level 40 and I still haven't seen a single Dragon Ball on my map. Where can i find them? Because I believe to get SSJ u need to collect dragon balls right?

You will only find Dragon Balls during the Dragon Ball Hunt event every saturday with a proper scouter that can find Dragon Balls.

The DragonBalls needed for SSJ/Giant Namekian/Pure Majin forms are only obtained on Saturdays during the DB Hunt. There are two events starting 11am & 8pm GMT(+0) which last for two hours each. You'll need to kill mobs that are marked with DBs on your radar or scouter and you'll have a low(ish) chance of receiving a DragonBall as a drop

^ and also make sure that the mobs are not higher than your level by 5 or lower than your level by 5.
And you need to have a scouter with this function. (You can get one in Korin Village from the Scouter Merchant)
