Does the mailing system return the mail sent if the receiver of the mail does not open it ?
Mailing System

i dont think so because there seems to be no reason in which the mail will return to the sender after not read by a receiver. In case it is read or not read the mail will never return to the sender.
you can try this by sending the mail to your own newly created character in the game.

All mails have a set shelf life. If they are not read and deleted by the recipient by the time runs out the message will automatically be deleted or sent back to the sender. If you wish to prevent this from happening you can check the "lock" option to stop the shelf life decreasing.

Well I guess the mail system is still broken, In retail dbo if you sent something to someone and the mail expired it would sent the mail back to the sender.

yea I liked the return to sender so I can sent back scammer mails to sender

Thouxanbanrese if the maid mail includes an item or zeni it will be sent back. if it's just words then it's not important and will be deleted.

tested it. I sent an item to my alt, set the expiration date to 1 day then waited 24hrs for it to send back to my main character and got nothing and I'm still waiting. Do you know how long is this "shelf life" exactly?

It's possible that the shelf life hasn't been coded in yet to work properly. As everything is slowly being fixed this will be in Open-Beta. but until then could you kindly create a ticket explaining what you've done and screenshots to prove it to Daneos so he knows it's something that needs to be fixed/implemented. Thank you for testing it. i would have but i have been away from home for over a week
