Hello again community!
I first wanted to thank you all because I had some interesting replies on my previous CM post. There were 4 main topics discussed:
- Drop rate (mentioned by adrian on fire)
- Server economy (mentioned by fkimn, headshoooter77 and Fluffy)
- Stats/Skills (mentioned by Orimbar, focusing specially on MA’s dodge rate)
- Events (mentioned by adrian on fire and Vyse)
I’ll try to develop an answer (not a definitive one by any means) so as to progress on our dialog!
DROP RATE
I’ll start quoting a reply I gave on another thread
Drop rate isn't determined by collective dropped items (whole server) or individual dropped items (player), but by mob. For instance, if an item has 10% drop rate, you have 1 out of 10 chances to drop it if you kill a mob. This rate will still be 1 out of 10 for the next mob and so on.
I must let you guys know that some modifications are being tested on dev server regarding rare and legendary items drop rate as we speak. I cannot give an ETA on this, so stay tuned for news on this matter.
SERVER ECONOMY
I’ve seen some interesting/funny posts on this subject, like mrhunt11’s reply onthis thread, or TheProdige’s thread. I say this to let you know that we actually read your suggestions and we care about what you guys say. Economy sucks right now, but I honestly doubt we will add anything server-side to control it (like stone merchants as it’s been suggested): this will probably lead to more errors and bug abuses. We already have enough dealing with bots and duping.
Because of these 2 subjects, some have accused Daneos of milking money and benefiting donors, not caring about F2P players. I can explain easily why this isn’t the case. Bug abuse and botting are 2 abnormal sources of zeni and items – that have a zeni value – which distort the market. In a distorted market, not only cash points but items have unstable value. For example, an upgraded glove +15 might be worth more zeni right now than before, but this zeni is less and less valuable because people keep abusing zeni bugs. A stable server and market is what donors - and everyone! - want, because I honestly doubt spending real life currency in a shaky market is their desired scenario. So yes, Daneos – and the DBOG staff – aren’t keeping a “bad” drop rate or letting bug abusers be to get benefits. We acknowledge current state of the server is far from optimal and we are taking different measures (bot banning, bug abuse fixing, drop rate testing on rare and legendary items) to fight it.
We are open to listen to you, but please do not accuse without proof or proper argumentation, otherwise it’s difficult to establish a dialog.
STATS/SKILLS
We are aware of dodge rate being problematic (not only for MAs as a matter of fact), but the focus is always to fix or add content that will affect the majority of the players. There are other class specific issues (poko priest, ultimate majin and crane hermit skills for example), and we will work on everything. I know it’s frustrating playing a class not to its full potential, but this is part of testing a server.
And finally… EVENTS!
For those that didn’t read Adrian on fire contribution on my previous thread
Display MoreEvent Suggestion(Event that every level can participate in) the rewards are effy and also up to daneos w.e
These also are event that got hosted way back on dbocom for the HK server, these events can be some starter idea to flesh out better event you can have with the community in the future.
Event #1: In-Game Race
Prize: idk any type of mount from cash shop
For this event, participants will need to travel from the Human starting location in Yahhoi West to the center of the main village of Karin's Forest. However, to keep things fair, there will be a few rules:
- Only level 1 Human characters will be allowed to enter the races
- Participants will not be allowed to use any forms of teleport or speed boosts (apart from the buses that run along the road)
- Participants may only win a single prize from this event
If you already have a character that's past level 1 or isn't a Human, you can still enter a race by creating a new temporary level 1 character.
Click here to view a map of the path from the start point to the finish point
Note: You don't need to follow the path above exactly as it's shown. You're free to get to the finish however you see fit, as long as you don't break any of the rules. If you want to take a dangerous route that cuts through mob infested areas or climb over the mountains you can do that. Using the buses that travel along the road and mailing your level 1 character enough Zeni to pay for the bus fees is also allowed.
To enter a race, you must be at the starting zone on (insert channel) before the race begins (it's recommended that you arive at least 5-10 minutes early).
The winners for each race will be those who arrivate at the finish line before everyone else. However, prizes will not be given out at that time. Instead, prizes will be distributed at a later date.
Event #2: In-game Scavenger Hunt
Prize: 1x 50 brown boxes or w.e up to daneos or chest keys if the chests can become drop-able again
How to win: For this event, I'll be hiding a character somewhere within the game world. I'll give a few hints about where he's hiding, and it will be your job to try and find him.
Example on Hints:
- I'm a level 2 Namekian
- I'm in Channel 1
- I'm in the Yahhoi West Zone
- I'm standing next to a peach tree
- I'm in the western half of the zone
- I see some dogs
- I see a windmill
- I'm not on the ground
- I see a Popo stone
The winners will be the 10 participants who find the character first.
Event #3: DBOG screenshot contest
Prize: 1x z32 Slot Bag (Permanent) presented to each of the 10 winners or W.E this up to daneos aswell
For this contest all you need to do is take an in-game screenshot. The screenshot can be of anything or anyone (forum rules do apply) and doesn't necessarily need to be from the DBOG of DBO. If you'd like to touch your screenshot up a little bit in an image editor you're free to do that, but only just as long as the final product is still more screenshot than photo-editing wizardry.
The creators of the 10 most popular screenshots will all win a prize.
I talked about this with Daneos… and he agreed! What’s next? Please reply to this thread’s poll to know what event you people prefer to start with! We’ll start with only one to begin with and according to your feedback and how the event comes up we’ll work on more. Be sure to let us know if you have more event ideas! Poll ends next Tuesday to give staff some time to set a day a time and also prices!
This post was longer, but I tried to post it once and got everything erased If you want more info on something, just ask. I’ll be glad to answer if I am able to.
Cheers,
Aru :dpeace:
